Driv-Lok was acquired in 1940 by Mr. H.R. "Pete" Hilstrom, a graduate mechanical engineer from Iowa State University and under his leadership the company evolved from one machine, one employee and one customer to a leader in the Press Fit Fastener business with over 150 machines, 75 employees and 1,000 customers.
Over the years, Driv-Lok has expanded its product line to include such major items as tubular spring pins, machine keys, dowel pins, shafts, knurled pins, coil pins, clevis pins, split hollow dowels, seamless hollow dowels and Barb-Lok™ pins and studs for the plastic industry. Driv-Lok's standard product line consists of over 12,000 press fit fasteners, in addition to the approximately 1,700 different fasteners that have been designed to meet the specific needs of individual customers. The fact that Driv-Lok is able to design and build manufacturing processes to produce press fit fasteners that meet the customized specifications of any customer provides the company with a unique market niche.
