Broadhead Groove Pin

SITUATION

The ENGINOMICS® team at Driv-Lok, Inc. engineered a groove pin design solution that accomplished the broadhead’s rotating and locking requirements. The grooves on the pin provide an interference fit when inserted into the application, holding the pin securely in place. The ungrooved portion of the pin allows the blades to rotate freely between open and closed positions.

SOLUTION

Using DRIV-LOK’s EngiNomics® approach, we identified the best solution to be a Driv-Lok Groove Pin. This would secure the pin into the jaw and allow the pin to be used as a pivot for actuating the jaws of the wrench. The ends were chamfered for ease of insertion, thus reducing assembly time and a hardened steel was chosen to accommodate shear forces and wear resistance.

ADVANTAGES

•  EASE OF ASSEMBLY

•  IMPROVES ASSEMBLY FUNCTION- WILL NOT BACK OUT

•  LOWER MANUFACTURING/INSTALLATION COST

•  MULTI-FUNCTIONAL DESIGN

TESTIMONIAL

“I was impressed with DRIV-LOK’s problem solving approach to the fastening needs in my new product design. I had not previously experienced Driv-Lok’s customer solution system of EngiNomics, but learned quickly how this unique Driv-Lok process would not only find me the best fastening solution, but an economical solution as well. I met with their Application Engineer and walked out the same day with not only a great recommendation, but actual parts to try in my wrench.” Dan Brown, Principal/Inventor, Loggerhead Tools LLC.
