A current DRIV-LOK tool manufacturing customer was developinga new line of wrenches. They came to DRIV-LOK to find a way to actuate the jaws of the wrench and specify a solution that would be able to withstand shear forces and be wear resistan – two features not being provided by a coil pin.
Using DRIV-LOK’s EngiNomics® approach, we identified the best solution to be a Driv-Lok Groove Pin. This would secure the pin into the jaw and allow the pin to be used as a pivot for actuating the jaws of the wrench. The ends were chamfered for ease of insertion, thus reducing assembly time and a hardened steel was chosen to accommodate shear forces and wear resistance.
